Nicole Swan has not only polished and perfected her talents; she comes from a very musically-oriented family -
indeed the perfect balance of nature and nurture. Her biological father was a guitarist, singer, and a magician.
Her mother is a vocalist and also plays several instruments including trumpet, violin, piano and organ; also, her
mother’s entire family is musically inclined, with seven brothers and sisters each of whom plays an instrument,
sings, or both. It seems only proper that music would be in Nicole’s blood, and in her heart.
Nicole began singing while only five years old, and the old two-room schoolhouse (well known for putting on
elaborate plays) where she spent many years fostered musical talent more than most, giving Nicole exposure to
many types of vocal and instrumental talent and skills, as well as theater/acting. She began piano lessons at the
age of ten and private clarinet lessons a year later. In her high school years Nicole was a member of her high
school band as a clarinetist, sang in the church choir, and during that time won many local awards for her
talents both as an instrumentalist and vocalist. Nicole is self-taught on bass guitar.
In 2004 Nicole took first place in a karaoke contest hosted by Ojibwa Casinos in Baraga, Michigan beating
out 28 other finalists and hundreds of entrants. She represented the entire Upper Peninsula in a national
karaoke contest later that year, where she proved her musical skills in front of thousands.
Today Nicole is taking the next logical step in her musical quest, bringing her talents and her unique voice to a
broader national stage through recording not only songs she loves from other artists, but her own compositions
as well.
